as thirsty as faustus

is this the poem that launch’d
a thousand rejection slips
or rather toppled the tropeless
tomes of idiom bereft of
homer’s golden mother tongue?
(chardonnay/charlatan today
merlot/marlowe tomorrow)
has the world evolved so very
much in a hundred generations?
no matter, for sincerity is the
minotaur of intention and thus
suffice to say beware greek gods
or worse their joyous gift of wine.
