saving time from what?
what unspeakable evil
is it that besets time
that it needs rescuing so?
time-saving aids are
promised us
as lifelines to
a better life
but what if I should
prove unworthy
and time should
perish on my watch?

Have you ever read the book Momo? (It’s a children’s book by the same author who wrote The Neverending Story). This reminded me of the premise–of wasting and saving and hoarding time.

I know not of this Momo of which you speak (although I AM finding it impossible to get the theme song of The Neverending Stor-eeee out of my head now, dammit!) Still, I also feel I have adequately dismissed any question of there being any display of original thought whatsoever on my part, in the poem’s very title. In truth, the idea came from a toilet paper wrapper which extolled time-saving benefits?! 🙂

Wow. That must be some toilet paper. It’s only because I just read the book that it struck me. But to be poetical inspired by a toilet roll wrapper…that is something!
