Land’s End: Swimming to Byzantium

Only now upon swimming
out past the headlands
into open water
does the enormity
of the ocean’s
depth and breadth
loom so large
the frailty of this human
form brought into visceral
focus from imagining
just what prehistoric
monsters of the briny
mythopoetic deep
must surely lie in wait
to swallow whole
this body, a fleshy scrap
not even a full mouthful
while still yet
the hazy glimpse of
a new continent
remains burned in my vision
tantalizingly close
a new Atlantis, could
this be possibly
the fabled land of
promised tomorrows?

About Lorem Ipsum

Just some guy trying to figure out where the "on" switch is hid on the remote control—ah, forget it. Because, you know what, I'm also the kinda guy who always likes the book waaay more than the movie! View all posts by Lorem Ipsum
